On my IPad, within the past week,new icons are gray and only gray…
they work fine but so boring..
any fix?

Do the shortcut icons that you have placed on your Home Screen replaicate the icons that you see on your Safari Start page?

I have exact same problem after recent update on new mini … all saved to HOMESCREEN website links are boring gray boxes… why is this all of a sudden when new links are added?
The reason they are gray is because the webpage doesn’t have a photo to reference when you save it which is why it’s gray
That should read: ‘has always returned a colorful icon’ not a ‘w’
That’s crazy…and how / when do they tell every web site in the world to make a picture available!

Yes I did and it may be crazy but do you have another explanation for why some websites have pictures but others don’t
It’s usually just a portion of the websites home page. That’s what is returned for many including my own website. This gray crap is all new.
