Is there a way to create a shortcut on my phone for quick messaging through apps?

You know, when you share a link through a text message via an app, it gives you the message filled in and makes you choose who to message. (Especially on apps when you invite somebody for a trial, with a code)

Is there a way to create such a shortcut on my phone? With the click of one button, you have an input field of a message to someone. This way, you can message someone without opening the app and seeing all the other messages you may not want to attend to right now.

So, to be more precise, I click a button, it gives me the option to input a message and choose the recipient without opening the app.

iPhone X, iOS 16

Yes! The format is:

sms://CONTACTINFO&body=MESSAGE

Just remember to replace spaces with %20 in the message. It will also work with email addresses and automatically switch to iMessage, not just SMS.

Good luck!

Hi there,

So sorry for the late reply! You don’t need the Shortcuts app for it, it’s just like a link, but you replace CONTACTINFO with the person’s email for phone number and MESSAGE with what you want to say, and then open it just like a https://example.com link. For the iMessage thing, what I meant was that the link suggests it’s only sms, but it works for iMessage too.

I hope I gave you the answer you was looking for, if not just leave a reply and I’d be happy to help.

Kind regards,
