How to scan Time Capsule for lost files

I accidentally deleted some files

The Time Capsule is a "network drive". If you delete files from a network drive the files don't go to the Trash, the files are immediately and permanently deleted. So, no use to try to "scan" the Time Capsule drive to look for the deleted files, if that is what you were asking about.

The files that you deleted are gone.

I don't use Disk Drill, but is sounds as if it is similar to Disk Utility on a Mac. Disk Utility will not allow you to scan files on a network drive like the Time Capsule, it simply does not have that capability.

Disk Utility will allow you to scan files on a drive.....like a USB drive.....that is connected directly to a Mac. But, the Time Capsule and other network drives.....called NAS drives.....do not connect directly to a Mac. They connect to the network router. Network drives behave differently than drives that are connected directly to a Mac.

Disk Utility.....and I'm guessing Disk Drill based on your information......cannot scan files on the Time Capsule disk or another network drive. Even if they could, you won't find the files that were deleted. Nature of the beast with a network drive.

There is nothing to recover. As I explained, when you delete a file on a network drive, it does not go to the Trash. It is pretty much instantly and permanently deleted.

A professional data restoration specialist might be able to find the file, but at very high cost. None of the data restoration applications that you can find at a reasonable price are going to do the job.
