Nowadays in the U.S. most (but not all) stores - or vending machines - which accept Credit Card “tap to pay” (NFC contactless payment) also accept ApplePay.
There are however still some notable exceptions; large stores which do not accept NFC contactless payments. (e.g. Kroger, Home Depot, Walmart, …)
