When I woke up this morning my Iphone complained that the memory was almost full. Going into settings I realize that the amount of data in Photos has gone from around 30 gb to 213 gb. The amount of pics in the library is about the same (not sure exactly how many there were) so I haven’t accidentally downloaded 200.000 photos or something like that.
What has happened and how can I fix it?

Could be a defective iPhone. My iPhone 14 Pro Max's Mid Rear Unit started to drain my battery completely in less than 6 hours. Apple advised me to take it to their store after running a diagnostics test remotely. Call Apple and ask them to do a diagnostic test for ya.
Keep the iPhone updated to the latest iOS always and never Jailbreak. That's it.
iOS / iPadOS devices cannot be infected with Viruses / Malware / Spyware unless you have intentionally downloaded spurious software or unauthorized apps directly from the internet and installed them on your device or/and have Jailbroken.
Haven’t jailbroaken it and it’s only 2 weeks old. Any clue what it else might be?
