Can't play my old purchased music on HomePods via music app

Sometime in the last month, the "Control Other Speakers & TVs" and Airplay functions from within Apple Music app on my iPhone/iPad stopped working when I try to play my old purchased iTunes songs to any of my v1 HomePods or HomePod Minis.

The HomePods do not seem to recognize that I'm trying to play anything from them.

All of my Apple Music streamed songs do work in this way, as do all of my Match/ripped songs. And 100% of my old purchased songs and Match/ripped song play normally on my iPhone/iPad/Mac. Siri also works to play them.

This problem is solely when I try to play my old purchased iTunes songs from my devices using the Apple Music app, to my HomePods via either Airplay or Control Other Speakers & TVs functions.

This is thousands of old purchased iTunes songs.

Things I've tried:

• Deleted a few old iTunes song downloads from my library (they reload into it as HLS media format)—but they still won't play via Airplay or Control Other Speakers & TVs function to the HomePods
• Close/open all apps
• device restarts
• HomePod unplug resets
• iCloud, Music, Home sign out/sign ins on my devices
• toggle Music/iCloud settings on my devices

Interestingly, newer iTunes songs I purchased in the last year or so do work correctly with the Airplay and "Control Other Speakers & TVs" function from my iPhone/iPad.

Could this mean corrupted old purchased files? a changed metadata issue? Do I need to delete the songs entirely?

I'm thinking it's a bug, but am wondering if anyone else has experienced this, could replicate it, or has solved it.
