Can Apple Music Read CD Text From A Mounted Music CD?
I am responding to some now inactive threads asking about iTunes and Apple Music here so forgive me answering my own question.
The stock answer is no. Apple Music uses a cloud based data base which compares the run time of each CD track, on each CD and makes an educated guess as to which CD it has just mounted.
This works fine for commercially produced CDs, as the record labels will ensure the relevant track information is uploaded to the database and everyone is happy.
However, if you produce your own music, or you work with CDs which have not yet been published, or you're not on line, this method doesn't work as the information Apple Music uses is not uploaded to the database at this stage.
However, most CD authoring software now includes CD Text when burning reference CDs, or Red Book CD masters, so it would be very useful for Apple Music to be able to read the CD Text info and display it as it does with the cloud database.
There is a free Apple script (From Doug's Scripts) you can download and install in your Library folder and it adds CD Text functionality to Apple Music.

It will hassle you to donate $5 but it is voluntary. I wish I'd found this months ago.
I have no interest in Doug's Scripts other than the script he's produced got me out of a hole! I donated
