external display was recognized but dark. I selected it as main display (to try out) and now I can’t go back as external display continues dark as MacBook display doesn’t mirror. For the MacBook im working on secondary display but as it’s dark I can’t see the actions. How do I go back to original setting?

Power Off the Mac:
Do you have any concern for losing data? If not, then power off the Mac. Then, unplug the monitor. Then boot up normally.
