MacBook Pro M1 trackpad does not respond

Trackpad on the M1 seems to be unresponsive at times. The issue happens randomly and is intermittent. This issue was captured a while back in the link below. Is there a fix for this? I am running the latest Ventura OS 13.3.1

Hello Chromelle,

It appears you have some intermittent issues with your MacBook Pro M1 trackpad. You mentioned your macOS is already fully updated, which is a good first step. Other suggested steps may resolve the issue, but if not, the goal will be to narrow down the possible underlying cause.

  1. Restart your Mac (for a Mac with Apple silicon, this will also act as an SMC reset).
  2. Test the trackpad while booted to safe mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode
  3. Create a test user profile to see if the trackpad works: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac
  4. Run Apple Diagnostics to confirm if there are hardware issues: Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac

Depending on where the trackpad continues to have issues will help identify what the underlying cause might be. Testing in safe mode shows if there are overall OS-related issues. A test user will determine if the issue is specific to your user profile. For additional steps, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly. You can reach them here: Get Support

You can also find the support phone number for your region at this link: Contact Apple for support and service

Take care.
