I bought a AirTag for my car but it’s only picking up my cell phone.I only wanted it for my car.Do I need to buy a separate AirTag for my car or can I unlink my phone?

An AirTag doesn’t actually have a location.
The location being reported on FindMy is actually the location of the relaying device reporting that it “hears” the tag’s intermittent beacon.
This “relaying device” may be your phone, or any other device which happens to be in-range.
