My text screen doesn’t always stay on split screen. How can I make sure it does?

You may be ending the multitasking window when you open another app from the Dock with the Home or by swiping up. If you need to move to another app try to swipe down from the top the app instead, you can choose another app to replace it without leaving Split View.
