Even the least demanding games causes my Macbook Pro to lag horribly, and it frequently overheats. Please help.

Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help me. I have a macbook pro 16 inch 2019 and I bought it ~2 years ago. Whenever I try to play a game with the lowest graphics/requirements etc (and also very old games from 2007) it cause my macbook to lag horribly (unplayable), it also starts to overheat A LOT. I had a couple of times where my screen goes black because of the overheat.

I've had problems with this MacBook's overheating and lagging ever since the day I bought it. But only when I play a game I experience lagging.

A few weeks ago, I did a factory reset as well, but that also didn't work.

Macbook pro 16' 2019 specs:

Processor: 2,3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9

Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

Memory: 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

MacOS: Ventura 13.3.1 (a) (Additionally occurred on older Mac OS)

Storage: 1TB SSD (I have more than 700GB storage left so also that shouldn't be an issue)

This should be enough to play the simplest games, right?.. so I don't get it.

Important: The CPU is always above 70% when I check "Activity Monitor" while a game is running, but I don't understand how that's possible given the specifications of my Macbook Pro. I close the browser and apps before playing but it still happens.

I hope someone can help me what to do, because I'm clueless.

(Sorry for bad English)

Thanks in advance!

Gr.

Tom
