How to separate the inboxes of my custom domain email addresses in mac mail

I have set up my custom domain email per Apple's guidelines. I have three addresses working. The problem is that they all go in the same inbox now, and are not identified by which account the email was sent to. Nor can I select an individual inbox to work in.

Yikes! This is a really inelegant arrangement. Is there a fix or a workaround for this?

Thanks!

If the iCloud emails are aliases of your primary Apple email account they will all go into the iCloud Inbox.

However, you could create a smart mailbox for each of your email accounts (whether they are aliases or not) as follows:

… match All

Any recipient is equal to xxxx@iCloud.com

Message us unread

The email addresses I am concerned with are all custom domain. I wish to have separate mailboxes for each account, exactly how I had them before I switched to using iCloud with custom domain.

I appreciate the suggestion about the Smart Mailboxes, but I really want to have each account displayed separately. With Smart Mailboxes, I'd have to replicate "Sent", "Junk", "Trash", etc., for each account. Uggh. That's a lot of clutter.

Also, on some devices I don't want all of the addresses on them. This is really a terrible implementation on Apple's part.

I'd like to hear what about the experience others are having who are actually using Custom Domain Email Address.
