Search function in Calendar with no results - solved

I had to dig to find it too. Here is where I eventually found it:

• Apple ID - with your name at the top-left
• iCloud - in the second block of items, with Media & purchases and Family Sharing
• In "Apps Using iCloud" section, select "Show More Apps..." button
• iCloud Calendar - is in the list - toggle the button

I found it a bit scary to toggle this off, but what the heck, as I couldn't search old content anyway. It worked for me and searching now works.

Wow - this was a great find. I had lost all of my calendar information as search didn't work. Turning off and on the calendar switch and everything is back. Thanks so much. What a nasty bug though from Apple...!

Toggling iCloud Calendar on and off again in system setting, then restarting the computer worked for me.

...Updated OS to Sonoma 14.3, after struggling to solve this problem for days. I am happy to report that I can now search calendar history. 👍

Update: Reindexed SPOTLIGHT and now everything works.

Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support

It's all about removing your boot drive, then putting it back. Since I have multiple drives (including a CCC boot drive for a quick recovery if needed) I had to fiddle a little with what drive was being indexed and what was not. Once I got that straightened out in my head, it was easy.

Just had the same problem (could not use search on Mac calendar) after update to OS 14.3.1 (23D60). Followed the process shown by "lambshift" and after a couple of seconds it all sprung back into life and started working. Thank you "lambshift" for taking the time to write up a solution. I use my dairy a lot to keep my life running smoothly and not being able to search for past and future events was a real pain.

Thank you so very much..I am finally able to search again all the way back to 2013 !!! I had been going crazy not having a fast way to find my calendar events with my added journal notes lately. Very grateful you have shared your simple fix.

i turn off/on iCloud Calendar a couple of times, but that did not serve my issue with search not returning anything.
