Safari Will Not Launch

I just updated to 12.6.5 on my Mac Mini (M1)

When I click to open Safari it does not launch but give me this error message: "Safari Quit Unexpectedly". (see attachment)

I have restarted, tried safe mode, and cleared the cache in Safari using CleanMyMac.

Chrome is working fine.

How do I get Safari to start working again?

Thank you.

You are right.

I ran this through my AppleCare+ that I was gifted and we actually did a backup, erase and restore.

Luckily it did not automatically go ahead and update Safari to 16.4.1.

That’s where the problem is on older Macs. Previous Safari version just fine on reinstalled 12.6.5.

If this is happening to you don’t install the optional 16.4.1 Safari update and you will do fine.

First let's get rid of the canard that the previous poster's Mac won't open Safari because she is using CleanMyMac.

I don't use it that app or any other on my late-2014 Mac Mini and exactly same result and error measure has appeared on my Mac.

Both the OS and Safari were modified when Safari upgraded to 12.6.5.

This is a stunning achievement by Apple!

Now my Safari does have an extension. It is the courtlistener Recap Pacer extension widely used by the legal, media and broader community to get preliminary partly complimentary access by Court Listener and other public open access legal sites.

I only use that on my latest iPad Safari (a) version anyway! Sure I would disable that if it's active but I can't launch Safari to do it.

So you can scratch that!

That's an extreme remedy. I have no other problems with the Mini as is. All other apps work fine and after the restore I would still feel the need to update to Mac O/S 12.6.5 for security reasons, no doubt to have Safari fail again.

Also I don't install junk on my Mac, and certainly have not added anything other than the update before this problem occurred.
