Hey Kate_--,

Hmm that's odd that it is greyed out. You've already tried to reset your AirPods by forgetting them, but you might have to try it again. A lot of times this does fix the issue, just give it a little time. :D

  1. "Put your AirPods in their charging case and close the lid.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Open the lid of your charging case, and put your AirPods in your ears.
  4. Go to Settings > Bluetooth. Or go to Settings > [your AirPods].
    • If your AirPods appear there as connected, tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods, tap Forget This Device, then tap again to confirm.
    • If your AirPods don't appear there, continue to the next step.
  1. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and keep the lid open.
  2. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*
  3. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone or iPad. Follow the steps on your device's screen."

Hope this helps! :D Again, you might have to try resetting your AirPods multiple times, but it WILL work. xD

Thanks camy_0533.

I lost only my case in the gym a week ago. And find my iphone only detects the ear buds not the case. Just lucky that someone from the same gym found it after 5 days. After getting it back I checked to see if find my iphone works with the case being nearby. It seems only the ear buds are being detected as it doesnt play a sound. Only the ear buds play the sound.

I checked the enable charging case sound in the settings and it is showing on but greyed out at the same time. Like a light greenish greyed out colour. It’s on but can’t toggle. What’s weird is the phone would show battery life of case which means it can be detected. Not sure now if its only the sound, or a glitch on the case. I reset the connection but it did not work too. The toggle is still greenish grey

So it bring me back to how do I get the find my iphone on the case working and not just on the ear buds. Or was it because of the model? Its an airpods pro gen 2. Any help is really appreciated. Just worried that i might loss it again and forever.

Regards!
