Storage

When I go into my phone's settings>general>iPhone storage, it says that my photos take up the most memory. My phone has 128GB of memory, but it says that the photos take up 173.53GB. I have 5094 photos and 832 videos on my phone. I want to ask how it is possible and how to log to free space?

iPhone 13, iOS 16

Hey E_stoynova,

We'd be happy to help out. Sounds like you're having some storage issues on your iPhone 13. To answer your question directly, it shouldn't be possible to have photos take up 173.53 GB locally if you only have a 128 GB iPhone 13, but we'll see what we can do to help you find a solution.

To start, do you use iCloud Photos or only store them locally on your iPhone's hard drive? If using iCloud Photos, make sure you have it set to optimize your iPhones storage space by going to Settings > Photos > Optimize iPhone Storage. This will ensure that your photos only take up a fraction of what they would if you downloaded the full resolution originals.

We hope this helps out, but if things don't improve, don't hesitate to let us know.

Take care!
