Apple id on two Macs

Hi! I want to keep my two Macs as separate as possible. But I want one of them to use the full benefits of iCloud integration for use with iPhone etc. The other must use the same ID but I do not want to use iCloud Drive or anything that may share or expose private data from my account without knowing ID.

So the second iMac and second ipad should use my ID and use sidecar without exposing data or use iCloud Drive. This is so other people can use the Mac and sidecar with the software that I have, but without using Drive or exposing private studs.

So, is it safe to turn off iCloud Drive on this Mac (and iPad) only, or is it a command that effects all my devices?

Hi Firemarble,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you want to use the same Apple ID on all devices, but you do not want iCloud Drive syncing content to and from one of the Macs. You can sign in in System Settings and simply turn off the iCloud features that you do not want working from the Mac.

Set up iCloud on your Mac
1. On your Mac, do one of the following:
* macOS Ventura: Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click [your name] at the top of the sidebar, then click iCloud on the right.
* If you don’t see your name, click Sign in with your Apple ID, enter your Apple ID and password, then click iCloud.
* macOS 12 or earlier: Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Apple ID, then click iCloud.
* If you don’t see Apple ID, click Sign In, enter your Apple ID and password, then click iCloud.
6. Turn on or select each app or feature.
