Bad passcode attempts while on the charger

This morning, I woke up , took my Apple Watch Ultra off my wrist and put it in the charger. I then got up, got ready for work and washed a few dishes. I’m guessing the watch was sitting in the charger for about 45 minutes to an hour. I returned to the watch and put it on my wrist. While doing so, I saw the message that I had typed in my passcode wrong too many times and to wait 44 minutes before trying again. I never even attempted to unlock the watch. I simply grabbed it from the charger and fastened it on my wrist. This has been gaining repeatedly since I got the watch. It never happened with my Series 3. Something is going on that’s triggering the bad passcode detection, and it’s not someone actually typing in a bad passcode. No kids around. No Super pets.

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.

As a last resort, follow the above procedure for unpairing and pairing the watch, but do not restore the backup. Set the watch up as new instead. There should be no loss of Fitness data or Awards since those are stored on the paired iPhone, not the watch.

If those steps don't help, then your best option, at this point, may be to make an appointment at the Genius Bar in an Apple Store near you and let them look at it. If that is not possible, use the online Apple Support option. Either way:
