Cancellation of AUTO RENEWAL - NOT THE SUBSCRIPTION!!!!

Why is the answer to cancellation of auto renewal ALWAYS to cancel the subscription??? Many people have asked this and that's always the answer. How to cancel a subscription is NOT the question! How to cancel a subscription is clear. SO, CAN YOU cancel an auto renewal? And if not, that's lame. Thanks

Hi there,

By definition, a subscription is renewing every month (or any other selected period). So if you want to cancel auto renewal, you actually have to cancel the subscription. A subscription is not a onetime purchase, and there’s no way to manually renew your subscription every month at the moment.

Moreover, cancelling a subscription doesn’t mean that you will no longer have access to it: it means you cancel the next billing period and you have access to it until it expires.

Oh man thanks so much, i’ve had that same frustration of trying to find a simple answer and have had that same issue. It sucks that its basically “you need to have auto-renew on or else you can’t have it” for a lot of services these days. Its probably because companies hope you forget about it and can keep charging you even if you don’t use their service and it gets lost within all the other auto-renewed services people have

If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support

You might need to scroll down to find the Cancel Subscription button.

Scroll further down the link for instructions for non-Apple devices.

Things about subscriptions;

⁃ Deleting an app does not cancel the subscription.

⁃ A trial subscription must be canceled more than 24 hours before the renewal date or it may renew.

⁃ Many subscriptions are set to renew automatically until you cancel them.

⁃ If you see multiple subscription offers, as long as you don’t select one, the subscription shouldn’t renew.

⁃ If you don’t see Cancel Subscription, the subscription is canceled and won't renew.

⁃ An expiration date means the current subscription has been canceled but is available to use until that date.

⁃ Use Resubscribe/Renew if you change your mind about canceling the subscription.
