MAIL All-inboxes behavior change

yesterday I downloaded the Rapid Security update for Ventura, 13.3.1 (a) and today when I use MAIL.app, the All Inbox choice only shows unread mail and not the read contents that remain in the inboxes. To see the read emails I have to now select the specific account inbox which is not helpful, confusing, and makes more work to view and manage incoming emails. Is there a way to change a setting so All shows all that's in the inboxes?
