How do I turn off auto-tagging in text messages? In particular, it’s *incredibly* annoying to have my phone automatically change “my” to My as an auto-tag when typing. I’ve looked through as many settings as seemed like a possible place where that setting might be, but haven’t been able to figure out how to turn it off. Thanks in advance for help!!!

I found a sort of fix because this is annoying to me too. I have husband in my phone as (name changed) “Paul My Love”. So any time I write my or love it capitalizes it and tries to tag him. After months of this, I just fixed it by putting it as “Paul 💓My Love💓” with the emojis attached to the words with no spaces. It’s annoying there’s no way to just turn off tagging but it does now let me write those words.

Thank you, but I’m not trying to change the autocorrect or similar text replacement functions. I don’t want Messages to auto-tag people’s names when I type them in text messages, and I especially don’t want Messages to auto-tag “my” and change it to “My” as a tag for me. I don’t need my phone to notify me that I’m saying something about myself in my message.

It sounds like you might be referring to the "mentions" feature in Messages. Here is some information, including how to turn off mention alerts:
"How to use mentions
Depending on your contact's settings, a mention can notify them even if they've muted the conversation. To change this notification setting, go to Settings > Messages, then turn Notify Me on or off."
