MacBook Pro M2 Charging

Dear Apple Community,

I purchased a 2023 MacBook Pro M2 with Studio Display 1 month ago. I’m running the latest OS.

The Display is permanently connected to my MacBook and charges my laptop too via thunderbolt.

I researched “smart-charging” and thought that the Display would charge my laptop to 80% and maintain that charge. Instead it’s charging it to 100% and maintaining that as per attached picture.

Is it normal to maintain 100% charge after 1 months use?

And would this decrease the battery life?

Thanks,

Jason

This is the user to user support communities... not Apple, however—> (Official Apple Support)

It is normal to see the battery at 100% after a month of learning, no harm there.

However—I would always advise to use the magsafe charger that ships with the Mac as the first connected device. The charger is packed with software/hardware for two way communication with the Mac.

Compare your results after another month of this set up and report back.
