How to transfer Music using the Apple USB super drive

I purchased an Apple USB Super Drive on May 4, 2023 with the purpose of copying some of my old music CDs to my computer. Worked fine initially, but then occasionally it would spit the CD out with a message that it couldn't read certain files. I then inserted the CD into an old Macbook Pro with an internal CD drive and there was no problem. Wondering if anyone else has these issues? NB: The Apple USB Super Drive is plugged directly into my Mac Studio, not into a hub.
