MacBook asks for password for my Touch ID, but I don’t remember it and cannot reset

I opened my computer today’s morning and it asks for a password to use my Touch ID. It seems like I forgot it, that’s strange coz a clue was pretty clear.

however, I’ve tried to reset my password for my iPad, that worked but didn’t help at all. I’ve tried option+Touch ID combination, option r combination etc and it all didn’t help to get me to any option to reset the password. I have MacBook Air m1.

it all scares me a lot, have no idea how to get access to my computer.

I’ll be really grateful for any information!

p.s. I see only enter password screen, no other options

I understand your Mac is asking "Your password is required to enable Touch ID". You don't recall that password and your hint does not appear to be helping you either. Is that correct?

First make sure Caps Lock is not "on". Press the Caps Lock key (once) and try your password again. The little ⇧ "shift" icon in the password field indicating the Caps Lock status might be incorrect.

Thank you very much, John!

Yes, you're correct, it asks for that. I've checked everything, unfortunately caps lock was not a problem. As soon as I get the article through the link you mentioned, I simply don't get any opportunities to press or to even see the option "reset your password" whenever it's incorrect or something. I can press the question mark button, thich gives me a key for my password, turn off, restart or sleep mode. No other options, no matter how many times I tried my password. Sometimes it says my account was "blocked" for 5/15 minutes until next try.

Do you think I need to bring my Mac to istore or whatever?
