You may need a game controller, instead of the regular remote. Those have gyros and accelerometers.

if it's games that rely on the gyroscope of the appletv hd and first generation 4k then the new remote does not feature that, so if those games don't work without those features than you can't play them, but would suspect they would be able to work in an alternative way with the new remote
