mac mini 2018 overheating, fan not working?

My late 2018 mac mini has been getting extremely hot, so hot that I can't hold it. It's also running super slow. I ran some test on Tech Tool Pro. It failed the fans test. I've never had this happen before. What can I do? Is there a simple solution? Or will I need to send for repair? I live in Costa Rica, so sending for repair would be next to impossible. This is my only computer. Please help!

That is not good. The fan should be running at a default speed of 1700rpm whenever the Mac mini is on.

If you can not raise the fan speed up with MacFanControl, then the fan is unplugged, clogged with dust or busted

Sadly it need to be serviced now, not after it has had a melted down.

Oh wow. I thought the temp mine has been running at was about in normal range. The temp showing in DiskDrill is much lower. There it usually is about 120-125. Currently it's reading 118 in DiskDrill, while reading about 150-160 in Macs Fan Control. Why the big difference? I just installed Macs Fan Control today, but I've used DiskDrill for over a year.

I installed Macs Fan Control, as suggested in another thread. I don't know if this is helping or not. It shows on Mac Diagnostics a "possible fan problem", and it has failed the fans test on Tech Tool Pro. So does this mean that the fan is broken? Will I need to have the fan replaced? Or will an app like Macs Fan Control solve the issue?

I am VERY worried about my Mac dying if it overheats and kills the hard drive! It's only 2 years old. I still have one year warranty coverage, but I live very far from any Mac service center. So hoping someone can help me with an easier fix. 🙏🏼✨

Thank you so much for the reply. Yeah, the fan is not working. I'm keeping a watch on the temp for now, and will only use the computer for short intervals. Do you think it's at risk of melting down in a week if the temp doesn't go too high? I really need to use this computer every day. It's my only computer and it's for my work.

I will take it to Mac repair next week. It's still under Apple Care for another year, so at least it happened now instead of later.
