all you need to do is open apple maps. find the location you would like to save and pin (drop pin) click on more … by the (move) button. then press (add to guides) and it will ask (name this location) (make sure to add pin to favorites) if you want the pin name to show on maps itself- click on the pin under favorites (details) (label) and change the name there!!! hope this helps somebody :)

You can only see the Directions to the Dropped Pin, Share the location of the dropped Pin with others, or remove the pin.
