Amazon has a DVR for the Firestick. How about one for Apple TV

Amazon Firestick streams, gives us access to broadcast TV and even has a DVR to record/playback. They also have an app to use Apple TV. Not sure who provided the app. On the other hand, I don’t think there is an app for the firestick. There is an app for Prime, but none that can access Firestick Recast. (Amazons DVR. )

Appke TV is getting better every month. But TiVo is reasonable for a year. Hardware and 1st year of guide. Then, $140 year just for the guide.

The recast is tolerable. Price is very reasonable.

But, I’d really like access to a DVR from Apple TV.

This is a user forum, you are not addressing apple here just fellow users

no app are allowed to record on the storage of the appletv, some apps support recording to cloud storage

in this world of streaming on depand rather than recording "live" tv one misses seems to have gone the way of the telefax in this day and age.

vlc app will let you access most type of network shares, my nas from Synology has their own sets of apps to access data from the nas directly from the appletv and other iOS devices

Actually I think my description could have been clearer. What I would really like to have on the list of apps for the Apple TV is one that allowed me to access a DVR for playback.

I really have no interest in recording streaming content. I am able to record OTA broadcasts using my Firestick. However, I use my Apple TV to access its content, and Prime and Hulu and paramount and peacock etc. Having access to my recorded content without having to switch to a different HDMI port, remote device, I.e. Firestick, would be a great convenience.

And yes, I do understand that I’m addressing users, not Apple, which is why I’m posting here. Users often provide better help than Apple. I seriously doubt that recording shows and watching them on a different schedule has not gone the way of the “telefax”. If it has TiVo and Amazon and others will go away. Not likely.
