Floating keyboard doesn’t get bigger when I pinch and zoom or drag to bottom of screen. Nothing works.

I have held every button, looked in settings, asked Siri, searched the web and found no answers. I have tried pinching, zooming, dragging to the bottom, holding and sliding every button. I just want my normal keyboard back. I have been stuck like this for days and the little control panel blocks a lot of texting boxes so I can’t see what I’m writing in apps like messenger. It’s extremely annoying and at this point I feel like smashing my iPad out of frustration. I use it for work and I’ve sent so many messages with typos or that don’t make sense because of it. Please PLEASE help.

Have you enabled the Scribble feature? This feature uses a different mini-keyboard that does not respond to the two-finger zoom or pinch gestures.

Settings > Apple Pencil > Scribble - set to OFF

After disabling Scribble, you may need to force-restart your iPad:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Otherwise, to restore the new Floating Keyboard to the normal on-screen keyboard presentation, use the two-finger “zoom” gesture (i.e., the reverse of the two-finger “pinch”).

If the Split Keyboard is restored instead of the full on-screen keyboard, you can either use two fingers (one on each of the two half-keyboards) and swipe the two halves together - or touch-and-hold the “keyboard” key, then slide your finger to the Merge & Dock option and release.

Well I had the mini keyboard pop up and nothing I could find would give me the full keyboard back. I have the 13 inch M4 iPad model. What I eventually thought of was that I had recently installed the magnetic pen that is sensed by the Tablet when it is stuck to the top edge of the iPad. And as soon as I put my Apple pen back in it’s resting place on the top edge of my tablet a message popped up showing the charged amount left in my Apple Pencil Pro and the full size keyboard immediately came back. I hope this helps anyone out there!
