I know there’s been a trend of slowness after updates since 13 … but this is ridiculous … taking some apple ‘experts’ recommendations re: app usage .. I finally decided to default mine and see if a blanked mini 4 responded from the gate … the answer is an astounding ‘no way’ .. it was very responsive less than 6 months ago .. lame

iPad mini (4th gen) is an A8 from 2015, and the A8 from 2014. And iPadOS is not getting any smaller nor any lighter.
If it’s the 16 GB model, it can easily also be low on free space, and that’ll make things yet slower. Sometimes much slower.
Both A12 (used on iPad 5th gen) and A15 (iPad mini 6th gen) have twice the efficiency cores and each efficiency core is faster than the available cores in an A8, among other differences.
Hardware comparison: Two performance cores at 2.49 GHz or 3.25 GHz and four efficiency cores at 1.49 GHz or 2.02 GHz on A12 and A15, versus two cores (total) at 1.4 GHz on A8. (Clock speed doesn’t always scale with performance.)
