You can read QR codes in the camera app.
Today when attempting to use previously free qr reader app on both iPhone and iPad I was redirected to a $35/month subscription. I’ve had the same qr reader since I started using iPhones. I deleted the QR code reader app and attempted to use the camera on my iPhone 14plus and was again redirected to the same subscription window. How do I utilize the camera on my phone for qr reading for free.
The Apple camera app does not redirect to other apps, though the URL referenced in the QR can.
Should there be some debris remaining from the removed app, confirm that the app is deleted, restart the iPhone, and check again using the following (benign) QR:
