Using "Guides" on Apple Maps?

When I select a location I've saved in a "Guide" on Apple maps, the app shows the location as a tiny dot on a map of the whole Western United States. I want the map app to show me a close-up of the specific location, the immediate neighborhood. Is there any way to get Maps to show the immediate neighborhood, not the whole country? I know I can use hand gestures to zoom in, but going to a specific neighborhood from a map of the whole country is a long and tedious process. Any suggestions?

BTW, I don't have this problem when using the Mac OS Maps app, only the IOS version.

Hey there Arandel,

From the link we found about how to use My Guides in the Maps app on your iPhone, we see that it does indeed show a zoomed-in view: Organize places in My Guides in Maps on iPhone

With the above in mind, we want to help by learning more about what's happening, along with ruling out some possible causes:

  1. If you try zooming in on your iPhone screen when viewing the guide, does it then show as in the above article?
  2. Was there a time that one of the guides did show as it does in the above article, and if yes, when did this start to occur?
  3. Since you have a compatible iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.4.1(a). You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.

Cheers!
