they say that a free lint free cloth is included with your new MacBook Pro, but there wasn't one with my 2023 16 inch MacBook Pro m2. Does anyone know why or what I can do?

That Liquid Retina XDR screen is likely why Apple does not include a lint-free cloth. Instead, Apple sells a custom cloth which feels like ultra-suede and is intended for this specialized screen. I purchased one before my 16-in MBP M1 Pro was delivered and have never used a general purpose microfiber cloth on this screen.

What's in the Box describes only three items.
Years ago there was a cloth included, but that has not been the case for quite a long time.
I got one with my MacBook Pro, Late 2011 model. This was likely close to the year when Apple stopped providing the cloth when you bought a new MacBook.
If you want a genuine Apple Polishing Cloth, you can can always buy one directly from Apple (note that it's far from being "free").
