PNG file blacking out, cant render.

Having an unusual issue with a PNG file (with transparent background). And not all PNG files, just one in particular, which adds to the confusion.

I can import the file, place it on the timeline, no issues. But which I go to alter its scale, the clip in the timeline and library go black.

I can delete the clip in the timeline and library, and when I go to reimport it, the file doesn't appear, even though the import seems to have been successful.

Ive tried a bunh of things to sort it - I quit and reopened FCPX, rebooted the computer, reinstalled FCPX, created new projects, deleted generated files, tried putting it in a compound clip and scaling that, gone back to the PNG source project and re-exported, nothing worked. It had me stumped for most of yesterday. Finally I took the PNG into Photoshop, and re-exported - that file seems to be working for whatever reason.

When I tried to render the problematic file, the render icon started blinking madly, fully freaking out. Of course it did not render anything.

I have seen other reports of this bug, so hopefully some inroads have been found?

I'm using my new M2 Macbook pro with FCPX on Ventura 13.3.1 - Might it be an M2 issue?

Cheers for any insights!
