The battery on my Macbook Pro was showing 92% when I put it to sleep. I reactivated it 6 hours later and it only had 42% capacity left. What can I do to eliminate this battery draining?

You can shut it down, but even that will not completely stop a Mac battery — or any battery — from discharging.

You can shut it down, but even that will not completely stop a Mac battery — or any battery — from discharging.
Because it is doing "sleep processes". Being asleep never was meant to be the cessation of all electrical activity; just diminished usage.
