System taking up 100GB of the storage? How to Fix this issue.
Seems that this has been a question which quite a few users have had over the years.
- Through using and trying as many OS cleaners as could find with only a few gigs of relief at most
- With barley keeping a thing, or installing a thing on the standard/non-up-gradable integrated 128 GB SSD. Due to the SSD always showing that the original OS/system files had always taken more the 80GBs of the SSD form purchase from iStore.
- Opting to use Google Drives app (non mirrored, only files needed would be downloaded).
- Close to opting to run the OS on an external SDD to be able to continue to use this MacBook. At a stage only a mere 4 to 6 gig's available even with clean-ups been run and only the needed applications and files need (Project files: 2GBs at most, due to me being a product designer).
Just to share the only resolve I've managed to find. Since nothing else I had tried or read had provided much or a resolve.
Backing up all files needed
Formatting and installing from Recovery Mode (Option + Command + R)
____________
RECOVERY MODE
Recovery Mode s a feature available before your mac OS starts to loading, but simply, holding the above keys while you press the 'start-up' button to turn your Mac on till you hear the Recover Mode chime.
- Please note that Recovery Mode (which installs the OS through WiFi or cable download and then installation) only gives you a single option of an OS to chose from.
Note
If you wish to install a specific OS for you Mac.
Please find out how to do this. Usually an installation USB will need to be made from downloading the OS before doing any of the steps from this section. It's a bit of a process... Or, alternatively, if Recovery Mode offers you an OS version below the version you're looking for. I would opt to do this and then update to the OS you wanted through your App Store. This might be a double installation but if you have a good line speed, the entire double installation should only take less the 2 hours.

RESOLVED ISSUE
Currently, macOS Monterey: Takes less then 50GBs.
Previously, macOS Mojaves: Over 80-100GBs for no known or reasonable reason.
Previously, without clean-formatting the drive: Most of my applications needed an update. But, an update-installation was basically impossible due to space available and left on the drive.
I hope this helps.
... Sorry about the spelling and grammar.
