HEY! So, for weeks if not over 1.5 months my iPhone would not connect to my wifi after changing my Comcast Xfinity password. I tried all of the above EXCEPT for the "factory reset."

I think I now have a much EASIER fix for this problem. You go into the Xfinity App and your "wireless" management section. There is a tab for devices which lists which ones are connected, which ones are not, etc.

There is an option to add a device...I believe the info is also under WiFi security, but the below is the official Xfinity section about sharing with a guest. You get a QR code -- I simply emailed it to myself on my laptop and held my phone up to the laptop screen. It scanned the QR code and connected to my home network instantly!

To share your WiFi name and password from the Xfinity app:

  1. Log in to the Xfinity app with your Xfinity ID and password.
    • If you already have the Xfinity app, make sure you have updated to the latest version.
  1. Select Connect.
  2. Select your network name.
  • You'll see a card pop up with WiFi details.

  1. From the card, you can share your WiFi network name and password by having your guest scan the displayed QR code with their cell phone or tablet camera.
    • You can also share this information through text message, email or other supported applications by selecting the Share button.

Hope this helps.

Troubleshooting iPhone WiFi:

Try The Following in the Order Provided:

I. Start Here: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t Connect to a Wi-Fi Network - Apple Support

II. What Else to Try:

A. Restarting the iPhone:

If any changes were made (i.e. Installed Apps), then Settings (i.e Wf-Fi), may have become manipulated technically. So, try restarting the iPhone:

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Shut Down
  4. Slide: Your Finger to the Right

B. Disable Cellular:

Try disabling Cellular, and using Wi-Fi instead, seeing if that makes all the difference. Cellular always overrules Wi-Fi.

C. Try manually restarting your iPhone:

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Select: General
  3. Scroll to: the Very Bottom
  4. Select: Shut Down
  5. Slide Finger: to the Right
  6. Wait: 30 Seconds
  7. Power One: the iPhone
  8. Try this Once More

About QR Codes and why to Perform the Reset:

Look all over TV and you'll see QR codes on numerous commercials. QR codes remember who you are and when you used them --retailers use these to remember when you were last at their store, and then they provide you with relevant, promotional offers that you'll find on your receipts --so perform the reset.

Set this Up Anew:

Reset to Factory Settings:

Being you are having connection issues, reset your iPhone to factory settings, as if you were to sell it. Go here: What to do Before you Sell, Give Away, or Trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. Perform as instructed there, including the backup creation and iCloud logout.

My iPhone still will not connect to my home wifi: Thanks for the effort. I am reluctant to do this. Something so simple as changing my password is just nuts to have restore factory settings. it's scary. I don't want to lose data. Seems very serious.

Contact Apple Support:

If nothing is working, then give Xfinity a call. If you do not own the modem, then that means that they own the modem being used, and therefore you are leasing it from them.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

Thanks but no, this is not working. I feel like there is some miscommunication that my phone is blocked somehow from connecting to my current wifi with the new password because my TV works, laptop works, and scanner is now connected to the wifi clearly showing the new password. The phone seems blocked someone from recognizing the new one (the old password won't work either).
