I download to my desktop on os monterey. They do not land there, they dissappear. how can I find them?
iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13
Go to the Finder and press Shift + Command + H. Do you see the Desktop Folder there?
I don't know why that would be. Have you tried changing the destination to another folder? i.e., change Safari > Preferences > General > File download location.

Are you asking about downloads that you do by using an internet browser? If so, what browser are you using (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc)?
I use Firefox and Safari. Doesn't matter, they are noplace to be found, especially on the desktop where it is requested.
