Why does my macbook say "This mac will be configured automatically by freedom prep charter school"

You can try contacting that school to see if they will remove the laptop from their MDM assuming the laptop was not stolen. Otherwise you should return the laptop for a full refund since @TheLittles is correct as there is nothing else you can do. Unfortunately this is one of the dangers of purchasing a used Mac these days, with a firmware password lock being the other one.

Troubleshooting Used Macs:

Being a used device, contact the site you purchased it at. Seems you've been scammed. This is the site the seller should have used prior to selling it to you: What to do Before you Sell, Give Away, or Trade In your Mac - Apple Support. The seller should have known better.

Where did you get the computer? It may be owned/controlled by the school using MDM.
