FCPX: Error code -536870181

hi all, I'm repeatedly getting the above error code when I try to share my Final Cut project to my external hard drive. my project is a combination of videos from my camera (shot on an sd card, then imported to my hard drive), and videos from my iPhone.

At time I had "missing plugin" errors for the videos shot on my camera, but I was able to resolve those errors by plugging in the sd card. Might have been the case that I actually didn't move the videos when I started the project, leading to the missing plugin error.

Now, the whole video renders as expected in the viewer but won't export.

I have also tried the following, and have gotten the error each time:

sharing to my local computer instead of to the hard drive
only sharing the sections of the video that were shot on iPhone
sharing a shorter section of the video (full length is ~10m long)

Any suggestions on what this error code means and the best way to get around it?

Do any of your events show a yellow warning sign?

It looks like some of your clips may not have been fully imported from the camera card.

When this happens, FCP is unable to export.

You should do File->Import->Reimport from Camera/Archive for the affected clips to be fully imported.

hi Luis, thanks for your response! the event does indeed have a yellow warning sign.

`reimport from camera/archive` was greyed out as an option so I tried making a new event, reimporting all of the footage, then copying my project over and exporting from the new event and still ran into the same error.

the new event doesn't have the warning sign, and I'm not seeing any footage in the event that is throwing an error.

I'll continue trying to reimport from camera, any suggestions on how to get that button to not be greyed out?

the drive has enough free space! I sometimes have connectivity issues with the drive or the cable but that's never been an issue in the past. I'm not able to find a replacement cable right now but I will look and report back!

I heard about this same error code from people who have had issues with cables, certain drive enclosures, etc. You might also check the drive's free space (Get Info is usually helpful).
