i found an airpods case without airpods inside

i found an airpods case without airpods inside, can i just hand it over to an apple shop so they can find the owner?

Hello ~ It may be best to turn them into local law enforcement where you found them or to the lost and found where you found them . Apple doesn’t get involved in lost and found situations.
