Photos error: "Unable to Edit Video. This video cannot be edited because it is unsupported."
In the last month I noticed that my iPhone 14 Pro and M1 iPad Pro have stopped letting me edit video that was shot on my Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS200 camera. The video is h264 mp4. I have used this camera for three years and haven’t change my camera settings or how I sync the videos to Apple Photos. I use icloud.
After a recent software update (i’m assuming that’s what happened) I now can’t edit any new videos transferred from this camera to Photos OR any of the old videos that I was previously able to edit! I can edit video from Wyze cameras or that were recorded by my phone or ipad. The last time I tried editing one from my Panasonic camera was back in September so I’m not really sure when this started happening. I hadn’t had a need to edit videos this way from then until the last month or so when i started seeing this error (so it could have been an issue going back to october and I just didn’t realize it).
Is this a known bug?
I AM able to edit them using Photos on my intel imac. All three devices are on the most recent OS.
This just occurred to me…about two months ago I had to restore my imac from a time machine backup. I’m not sure if that could have done something. Another data point…it doesn’t matter if i import the photos via my ipad, phone or imac. I usually import them via USB direct from the camera. Again…this worked fine with no issues for at least three years.
