Date format in numbers

How can I change the display format of a date from dd-mm-yy to dd/mm/yy without changing it's data type into text?

If you select the cell, go to Data Format under the Cell pane at the right, and scroll down you will see Create Custom Format ...


Choose that and set up a format that looks like this:




The idea is to drag the appropriate tokens up into the box and type in / where you want them. Click the v in the tokens for a dropdown where you can pick the number of digits for month, day, year.
