You can delete iMovie 10 from your Mac by dragging the iMovie 10 icon from the Applications folder into the trash, and then emptying the trash. The iMovie library, that contains all of the iMovie projects and media, will not be effected. Thus you will not be saving a lot of space by just deleting the app.
If you also delete the iMovie library, usually located in the Movies folder on your Mac (Go/Home/Movies), you will be permanently deleting all of your projects and media. Unless you have your media stored elsewhere than in the iMovie library all of your media will be permanently gone.
If I may ask, why do you want to delete your iMovie app? As I mentioned, you would be freeing only a small amount of space. Are you having problems with the app and want to delete and reinstall it?
