Apple Watch activity reverts to kJ after restart

Something that has bugged me with my Apple Watch Series 5 since I bought it in 2019. If I restart the watch (or battery dies), the active energy measuring unit reverts to kilojoules (kJ), despite my preference of kcal / Cal.

To fix it I have to go the Health app on iPhone and play around with the unit settings. It’s a real pain and after 3 whole watchOS upgrades - I’m surprised that Apple still hasn’t fixed it.

please can you fix this in a future release??

Thanks. The main reason I posted this is because I want Apple to fix a very annoying bug.

I appreciate your suggestion but just to confirm that either changing the units on either the Health app or the Apple Watch app on iPhone will switch the units back to my preference. However, this is not a long term solution and I would rather not have to do either each time I have to restart Apple Watch.

how can I tag an Apple rep to consider this for a bug fix. A quick google search for this issue indicates many other users have experienced it for years.
