Call Button in Contacts works for some, does not work for some. For the same format in which the phone number has been inputted, the Call Button works or does not work. Example below. The number format is the same. Beats me. I have never seen such basic errors on Android.
If anyone still needs it I got a fix from Apple support and it worked!!!
I had the exact same issue and I was told by support to change my region.
So go to settings -> Language & Region -> Region. Change region UK -> US or US -> UK.
Once changed restart your iPhone and click the call option again.
Then close contacts and then change it back to original region, restart once more and it should be fixed.
This worked on iOS 16.4 give it a go and see if it works.
