Does making albums in folders increase the amount of pictures in Photos on an Iphone, taking up more space, or just make a way to organize them?

Photos are stored only once in the library.

Albums are like catalogues, showing a subset of the photos in the library, referencing the photos in the library. The references don't need much extra storage.
