The Lock/Unlock option under ‘Display & Brightness’ is nonexistent on my iPad Air 5th generation.

Good day, I bought my iPad Air a few days ago along with a case that claims to put my tablet to sleep once I close it. Well.. it doesn’t. And I searched everywhere and have been told to go to settings and move the 'lock/unlock' toggle. It is not there. What do I do next?

Hi,

Can you tell me what case this is and send me the link for it? The function where the iPad will sleep when the case is closed is only on Smart Cover supported cases. For more info, check out this link: Use the Smart Folio or Smart Cover with your iPad - Apple Support

A possible explanation…

The iPad auto-lock function is entirely reliant upon a compatible cover having a precisely positioned magnet - the magnet being located to operate a corresponding hall-effect sensor within the iPad when the cover is closed. The position of the sensor differs between iPad models - and as such, a compatible case must be explicitly designed for the iPad model for which it is intended.

Some third-party cases will not, necessarily, have the trigger magnet correctly positioned.
