why aren’t my airpods automatically connected

why are my airpods not the first thing my face time audio goes threw when i answer and i have them connected to bluetooth i have the 3rd gen airpods and iphone 12

If your AirPods are not switching as expected, start by ensuring that automatic switching is enabled.


Settings > Bluetooth > [AirPods Name] and tap the info button (the i in a circle) > Connect to This iPhone/iPad > Automatically Switch your AirPods to another device


Also, ensure that your iOS is fully updated since updates can often help resolve unexpected behaviors. Update your iPhone or iPad


Should the issue continue, contact Apple to Get Support.
